Riverdance - The Irish Dancing Phenomenon

I saw Riverdance last night (December 2) in San Diego. It was amazing! The production was awesome and the dancers were absolutely exhilarating. I especially liked the flamenco dancer- her hair piece fell off near the end of the performance and she didn't miss a step and the male dancer on stage with her swooped by and picked it up with such subtlety that one might have barely noticed. All the dancers were amazing and so beautiful. GO SEE THIS IF YOU CAN WE WERE IN ROW Z ($25) and could see eveything. Be careful of the steps though, a lady fell right on her butt (an audience member not a dancer) because the stairs were only marked with reflective white every other step and in the dark I think she thought
each was one. Anyway SUCH A BLAST!!!

3rd time seeing Riverdance during it's continuing lifetime. Though a bit smaller than other performances I've attended, the troop was shining in Sacramento, CA. The energy, dancing and music were all as I remember from previous performances and the performances were as great as any show. Don't miss this tour - I'll keep going as long as the show is around!

I saw Riverdance at the Saroyan Theater in Fresno, CA (Nov. 2nd) with my mom, and we were both blown away! The whole experience was so wonderful and surreal, the whole place was filled with the dancing, singing and instrumental talents that performed on the stage. It was an amazing time for my mom and I to remember our Irish roots, and it's still sticking with me. Bravo, one and all!

I first saw Riverdance when I was eleven... it changed my life. I wanted nothing but to be an Irish dancer. Although it took me three years to convince my parents to let me take Irish dancing lessons, at the age of fourteen, I won the battle and signed up for lessons at a local school.
Being an Irish dancer is one of the most amazing things that's ever happened to me. It's changed my life for the better in so many ways. I dream of being a Riverdance cast member some day, even though I started dancing later than most. I owe so much to the Irish dancers and creatives of Riverdance.
If you only see one stage show in your whole life, it should be Riverdance.

I love Riverdance as I am from Belfast myself. I liked the dancers but the set was that of a high school presentation. I think the sun was actually and enlarged orange. It was not up to a standard that reflects the quality of dancers.
The Spanish dancer wasn't that interesting and the girls came out in red costumes that looked like santas helpers.
I saw Riverdance years ago and was so excited to see it again. I am not sure I would go back unless them improved the set and added some new costumes.
I would not do the Spanish dancer as it doesn't match with Riverdance.
The dancers are amazing and deserve better sets that is all.

Just saw the show last night in North Dakota. Absolutely breathtaking. It was amazing ... the songs, the dances, the atmosphere they created was stunning. My fiance and I even got a little choked up during some of the performances. Absolutely fantastic. A memory I will cherish forever. There was even a time in one of the group dances one of the dancers fell ... it didn't even phase him ... he got right back up and continued on and the performance was fantastic! If you haven't seen Riverdance you should really go to a show. It will take your breath away.

BRING BACK THE OLD ONE!! I would pay to see ithe old one every year (and I did) but I won't go to this one again. Way to many musical numbers. Why would you put Irish dancers in a long skirt?? The point is to see their legs. Flamingo dancer, huh? There were a few high points but it just doesn't begin to compare to the old one.

I saw the Riverdance that was performed in Beijing China and thought it was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen! The dance and the music were excellent and I especially liked the way other styles were integrated into the performance; a true masterpiece of chorography and musical production.
I especially appreciated the singing of: Kevin Horton and Brioni Gallagher; the dancing of Yolanda Gonzalez Sobrado and the Moscow folk ballet company. Also, the music of Aoife Ni Bhriain and Matt Bashford and not forgetting the guy on the drums! My favourite section is the dancing routine about 56 minutes into the performance with Kevin's singing and Aislinn Ryan's dancing!

We went to see Riverdance in the Rapid City, SD civic center. While the show was about what I expected for the money, the big minus for me was the civic center itself. The seats are too small and the crowd is packed in like sardines. The seats are all wood, no cushioning whatever. Otherwise, the show was a nice change from the usual.

The performance was nothing like the one I seen on TV a few years ago. Not enough dancing, too much singing and fiddle playing. The dancers were great, just not enough of them. I would not spend my money on another Riverdance peformance like the one I seen last night. I even bought a CD, which I hope is better then the live show I sat thru last night

My daughter and I went to see Riverdance on Saturday, May 7th here in Saskatoon. True it was an abreviated cast due to to the size of the stage, but the magic, the sound, the rhythm....it was all there. The first drum beat sounded, and my feet were tapping right along with the dancers, as were those of quite a few others, along with clapping. it was fantastic! My daughter and I would like to thank the cast and crew for such a wonderful time! It seemed to end too soon. I have several tpes/DVDs of your performances, and each one is an individual pleasure. Thank you for making them available. As for those people who were disappointed, Riverdance isn't just a show, it's a story told in narration, song and dance. It has never lost it's magic for me over the past 14 years!

I went to see Riverdance in Edmonton last night and left at the intermission. I expected the show to be similar to Riverdance on TV i.e. lots of group dancing in a line, loud, fast, rhythmic 'hard shoe' numbers. I was incredibly disappointed with what I saw in person. The entire show looked like it had come from 1994 - the very sparse set design (bad 90s talk show backdrop with little feeling), having to watch the musicians on stage (whyy???) compete with attention for the dancers and the horrible costumes (90s velour figure skating outfits). Overall, this show lacked polish and stagemanship. It also lacked dancing. Of the 9 routines I watched, 3 were singing only, and 1 more was only musicians. The whole feel of the show is unbudget and 90s... not high energy, glitzy, or 'Broadway'-quality. I was embarassed I had brought a guest to see the event!

Maybe I was tainted by the performance of Riverdance I saw 10 years ago. I expected the same show otherwise why wouldn't they change the name of the dance or give it an additional sub title like they do with different shows of Cirque du Soleil?
This performance was no where near as good as the Riverdance I saw 10 years ago - although each performer was good at what they did, and there were parts that were fantastic it was overall in comparison disappointing.

Weird to see in a review that someone was disappointed that Michael wasn't in it. Interesting. Perhaps a little breeze around the internet might help understand why.
Interesting show - not brilliant by any stretch of the imagination. The singing and the Gaelic music was excellent. It sounded great to here the ethereal sounds of the pipes over here. The Flamenco was awesome - she really portrayed a very sultry dancer. The action/response of the Irish dancers vs the the Tappers was the highlight for me - brilliant dancing and a lot of humour. The audience were all laughing. The line dancing was quite good but the stage is really small so they were a bit squashed. I also felt they added the sound of taps & steps to the routine to make it appear louder esp. the male lead. He seemed out of step with the music like a bad lip-syncher. Finally, the baritone was an excellent tap dancer but a pretty poor singer - great in the power but pretty poor in the lower more gentle singing. Overall very good - worth the entrance fee

My daughter and I went to see Riverdance for the first time in Calgary, Alberta. To be honest, when we purchased the tickets we thought it was going to be a lot of group dancing, something like what we saw years back on television. That is what we went to see. There was too much singing and too much one - on - one dancing. Too much solo fluting and violin. Riverdance to me is a group of talented people dancing together and showing their precise movements that are so exact and on time to foot tapping celtic sound. Sorry, but we were both disappointed in the show. Would think twice about seeing it again.

I've wanted to see Riverdance for 16 years, there was no way they could dissapoint when I saw it in Lethbridge on April 16, 2011, and they didn't! It was a thrill to see the dances live and to see the interactions between the dancers and the dancers and the crowd. I also liked the way the musicians, like fiddler Patrick Mangan, interacted with the crowd. It was so easy to just get lost in the dance and the music, that before you knew it it was over. I would only want it to be longer :D

Just saw the show in Cranbrook, B.C. - third time for me, second for my daughter, and first time for my husband and 4 1/2 year old granddaughter.
We were enchanted and delighted beyond words. It's the best performance of the three I've seen. My granddaughter was so delighted, half the enjoyment was watching her rapturous expression.
We now have four generations of devoted Riverdance fans in my family.
Riverdance has touched us all in a joyous, powerful way. Thank you for bringing the show here. And thank you to an incredible cast who exceeded our expectations.

Quaity of performance was perfect and thoroughly enjoyed the two rascals in the dance off - they were certainly enjoying themselves and this echoed through to the audience. Saw the 1998 original and felt the 2011 farewell was a watered down version. I remember a bigger troupe of dancers, more drummers and the fantastic electric violinists dancing while they played - I was so looking forward to seeing them. Guiness was the drink of the day at the venue adding to the ambiance back then. I didn't understand the flameco dancer, although good, there was no connection. Glad I had another opportunity to be entertained but a little dissapointed.

I have seen every show since the first one that came to DesMoines, Iowa and will see it again and again if I get the opportunity. I'm just sorry people can't see the original show as it was first presented. I feel it told the story of the Irish immigration to America so much better. I missed the narrator telling the story and the greater involvement of the dancers. We don't need the drummer with his large set of drums onstage; it distracted from what was going on on the stage. Also I have never understood what a Spanish Flamenco dancer has to do with the story being told. Her time onstage could have been better used with the Irish dancers performing. It's become a tradition in my family so I wouldn't miss it.

As a dancer, watching your show was not only one of the most breathtaking and exhilirating experiences of my life but also one of the most inspiring. I was blown away by the syncopation, the personality and the absolutely incredible ENGERY that emanates from the stage.
What a FANTASTIC experience!! I have always wanted to see Riverdance and was afraid that Dubuque, Iowa's 13in. snowstorm would keep the troupe away. They braved the weather and so did a huge crowd. The audience sat in awe at the beginning of the show. Before long, the entire audience was clapping with the beat and shouting out their approval. For me, it was the experience of a lifetime. My eyes were glued to their feet as they danced in perfect sync. It almost made me want to dust off my tap shoes and give it a try. What a hoot that would be !!!! Congrats to the troupe and Thank You for the experience.

I saw it when Riverdance came to Singapore 10 years ago, and with their return once again I decided I couldn't miss it. Too right I was because the show was marvelous, a fantastic phenomenon, and I had to catch it for another time. Yet, seeing it twice in a span of their 2-week tour here still wasn't enough for me! It was amazing, and even 'amazing' is an understatement. I just don't know how else I could describe the powerful energy that magnifies and explodes from the stage. Riverdance is indisputably performing arts at its best!

All the dancers and the musicians were of the highest quality, they left me stunned. I can't praise the night enough. And the best venue I have found in Ireland to view this show has to be the INEC, Killarney.

Riverdance was excellent
I wasn't expecting Riverdance to be as entertaining as it was, I thought it would be just dancing! From the very beginning the dancing, the singing, the musicians the whole show was very entertaining. In particular, the 2 tap dancers were excellent and the marrying of tap dancing and Irish dancing was just unbelievable. The whole performance got a well deserved standing ovation.
Favourite moment: The tap dancers!

This was my 3rd time seeing Riverdance and I was not disappointed. Seen it in a large arena as well as at The Gaiety Theatre on its previous tour. The performance was flawless. Slightly scaled down (a few numbers missing), but all in all, I would recommend Riverdance to anyone who is thinking about seeing it!

Riverdance was unforgettable
We have had very good places and the audience and we were very enthousiastic. We are more involved than we were at the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam. This was more as if the group was dancing especially for us. Thank you for a very unforgettable evening.
Favourite moment: There were many favourite moments. The dances and the challenge between the two 'groups' of 1 male and 2 males.

Always Great!
It's my 5th time seeing Riverdance and I always get a shiver down my spine when I see it. Especially the famous parts. Love it ! My French friends who came with me last night had never heard of Riverdance and they were blown away. They were amazed at the energy and the spectacle of it. We had to get the DVD and the CD for them! Riverdance should think about Paris!
Favourite moment: The dance/song/music that made them famous from the Eurovision

Riverdance is a delight!
This is the second time I have seen Riverdance and this production is the best yet. We went as a family and my granddaughter couldn't stop her feet tapping! We all loved it all. I would recommend the show to anyone who is feeling out of sorts with the present state of the economy, or is simply feeling down. It is very uplifting and positive and full of enthusiasm. The dancing is brilliant and it was terrific to see all the cast working so well together.

Not to be confused with the 'little snippets' seen on tv. This extravaganza told a most beautiful story through song, dance and the most amazing music ever!
Do not expect to see just terrifically timed dancing in' lines' - the choreography was spectacular especially as the stage was so small.
Where was the orchestra we wondered whilst waiting for the start - the FOUR musicians came to 'light' soon enough and made a fabulous evening worth every penny spent!
Even the most boring, grumpiest person in the world would find it impossible not to be moved to whooping with delight by the end...... on that I would bet a month's salary!
A totally cliched review I know, but the show was totally spectacular!!!!

Three Thumbs Up!
River Dance in Dublin is in the lovely Gaiety Theater with the "wedgewood bowl" interior. The performance is lively, face paced, varied with music and dance and overall highly entertaining! My husband who usually only tolerates music and dance shows was thoroughly impressed by the fiddler/violinist and the skill of the dancers. Our teen-age daughter enjoyed the fast-pace of the dancing and the second half of the program. I don't have the easiest people to please for an evening out, but "Riverdance" filled the bill!
Favourite moment: The American Wake and the This is How Tap sequences

Riverdance - Mindblowing!
I surprised my girlfriend for her birthday and took her to watch Riverdance at The Gaiety Theatre in Dublin.
We were totally blown away by the whole show. I've seen many concerts and shows in the London West End but I'm sorry, the cast of this show, dancers & musicians were on a different level!
Absolutely brilliant!
Favourite moment: The dance off between the Irish dancers & the 'swing' dancers!

Amazing
I was to Riverdance show on 7 August 2010, together with my daughter, 8 years old, and the both were very happy to see so great show.
My daughter is attending Irish dance classes, and I wanted to show her how nice is to see a live show, as for her is the first time when she saw it.
I was impressed about the theme of the show who wanted to show to the people that if we put love in everything, the world will be little bit better for everyone. My daughter was very impressed also and after the show she related me about show in our way to home.
I saw her during the show how happy she was as she clapped her hands almost all long the show.
In conclusion, we are very content and happy to see so great show!!!

Riverdance - Amazing
Impeccable timing by a cast that seemed to really enjoy themselves. The cast seemed to thrive on their tasks and led to a very enjoyable event for all of our party.
Some of the music was absolutely riveting and the combination of dancing in the second part of the show was especially enjoyable.
You can not help but be so impressed with the effort and ability of the entire cast.
