Yolanda Gonzalez Sobrado - Flamenco
Born in Santander in Northern Spain, Yolanda studied dance in her hometown from an early age. She received a qualification as a specialist in Spanish dance from the Ministry of Education and La Escuela de Arte Dramático y Danza de Córdoba. She was asked to join one of Spain’s most famous flamenco companies - El Ballet de Antonio Gades, with which she toured worldwide, performing Blood Wedding, Carmen, El Amor Brujo and Fuenteovejuna. Yolanda has also worked with many other prestigious flamenco companies including Cristina Hoyos, Manuela Vargas and Jose Greco. She shares her professional time between teaching in her home town of Tenerife and performing as an invited artist with different companies. Her latest performance was at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast on March 17th in an evening of Bill Whelan’s music featuring the BBC Ulster Orchestra, where she performed a solo piece in The Seville Suite. This is Yolanda’s fifth summer in Dublin with Riverdance at the Gaiety Theatre, and she is delighted to be back one more time to her second home!
