Alan Kenefick
Alan started dancing at the age of 9 at the Peggy McTaggart school of Irish dancing in Cork. Whilst there he won every major An Comdhail championship including the All Irelands. He then moved to the Cowhie - Ryan school of dance in pursuit of a world title. Alan was successful in winning every major championship with this school including Munster, All Ireland, Great Britain, North American, British Nationals and World Championships. After leaving competition Alan went on to perform in Michael Flatley's Celtic Tiger where he danced in front of 100,000 people in Budapest. He then moved on to Magic of the Dance where he was the lead dancer.
It was during his time in Magic of the Dance that Alan became interested in tap dance and has been studying it in addition to Irish dance ever since. Alan joined 'Riverdance' in the UK tour 2007 and after that tour was delighted to be asked to train for the lead. Alan has just finished his first tour as lead in Ireland and proudly performed the lead in front of his family and friends in a sold out show in Killarney. Alan is delighted to be touring as a lead dancer with the Foyle troupe. |
