Fancy dress in Williamsport followed by a favorite tour stop, Wolftrap Farm Park, VA

Williamsport, PA was a short stop on our tour (only 3 days) but it was a beautiful town. Located in the middle of the state it is nestled in the mountains and a dense forest. We had to take a plane in from Indiana and because Williamsport is a small town without a lot of commercial traffic the flight was on a private chartered jet. This was by far the most fun plane experience that the Boyne has ever had.

As we stepped onboard we were greeted by a friendly staff asking if they could get us a drink or help us with anything. All of the seats were leather and the size of first class seats. Most of the rows had huge gaps between them AND there were four tables located at various places stacked with bags of snacks, cookies, granola bars, chocolate and sweets. There were also coolers filled with drinks. As if this wasn't enough, after take off, the flight attendants walked up and down the aisles with baskets of freshly baked, warm chocolate chip cookies. We were all a bit sad that this royal treatment ended so quickly as the flight was only an hour but it was great while it lasted.

This week was the second in a series of three split weeks for us and because split weeks can tend to feel dragged out, our dance captain Ryan McCaffrey had an idea to break up all the work. On our last night in Williamsport he organized a fancy dress party for us where you had to come as a superhero or villain. Everyone was very creative with their ideas and put a lot of effort into coming up with great costumes. We rented out a room at the hotel for the party - which even included a last minute break dancing (in costume) contest! A good time was had by all and we were in great form to move on to our next stop.

Vienna, VA and Wolftrap Farm Park has been a yearly stop on the North American tour schedule for the past six years. The huge outdoor covered theatre and lawn seating usually sell out well in advance of the show dates. Because it is outside, we usually perform here in the summer - which in VA generally means 90 plus degree weather. We were lucky this time, though, because for 3 of our 6 shows it was actually quite cool which meant much easier performing. By the weekend it warmed up but the temperature still didn't approach what we'd experienced in previous years.

The Riverdance cast at Wolftrap

I am from a town very close to Vienna, so when we go to Wolftrap my parents usually try to have everyone over to the house for a home cooked meal. Because of our schedule this time we were not able to make it out to the house so instead they brought the meal to us. On Saturday between shows we all went out to the picnic grounds behind the theatre for a huge picnic. They also brought some outdoor games like croquet and Frisbee so after eating the cast got a chance to play for a bit, while others chose to take a walk along some of the lovely trails through the woods that surround the park.
