At what age did you start Irish Dancing?
I started Irish Dancing at the rather late age of 11.
What did you like most about Irish Dancing?
The applause of the crowd, the smell of freshly cut grass and the sound of leather on willow.
When and why did you decide you wanted to be in Riverdance?
My dancing teacher Kathleen Maguire convinced me it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. I am lucky in that my dancing school had several Riverdance veterans to tell me what a good life it is.
Where did you audition and what was it like?
My audition in Dublin was rather odd, in fact most things I do tend to end up being rather odd. I arrived at the studio just in time to see about 20 girls leave in floods of tears and Dublin taxis. Then when it was my turn to dance I realised I was the only boy not in a black shirt and trousers.
How did you feel when you heard you had been offered a place in the show?
As happy as a panda in an environment that makes pandas exceptionally happy.
Favorite part of the show?
My favorite number of the show is Andalucia which is a powerful yet elegant number.
Best Riverdance moment?
The ovation we received at the Special Olympics, it was tremendous. After that probably my skillful evasion of a certain airlines excess baggage charges by emptying half my suitcase and carrying my clothes through security.
Most embarrassing Riverdance moment?
Apart from concussing myself in the finale, recently I was abandoned by my partner in the Wake, leaving me to dance by myself like a lonely baboon. When she eventually decided to join me she danced the man´s part which was vaguely disturbing.
Do you have any rituals you have to do before going onstage?
Not really but I´m not exactly the brightest and often end up on stage without exactly knowing how I got there.
If you could only take 2 comfort things on tour what would they be?
My laptop which is sadly falling victim to senile dementia and my astranged ukuele which was misplaced somewhere in Akron, Ohio during a snowstorm.
What do you do in your free time on tour?
Plan world domination. When I´ve had enough of that I annoy my colleagues with endless chatter about Castles, books and Sweet Holy Bazil.
