Running time: 30 minutes
Cast: 22 dancers, 2 singers and 5 musicians
Audience: 3,000
The
Riverdance Flying Squad travelled to Glasgow to perform a
30-minute programme at the Sixth Official ECR European Conference
before an audience of 3,000. The Riverdance troupe
was at home on the venue's large stage (16 metres x 8 metres) while
the band performed from a specially constructed bandstand on stage
right to an enthusiastic audience.
The
squad rehearsed for five hours the night before the performance,
as there was no access to the stage during the daytime conference.
The programme consisted of Riverdance followed by Firedance
(solo performance), Thunderstorm, Lift the wings, Slow Air &
Tunes, Heartland and Finale.

"The
2001 ECR European conference was organised in the SECC in Glasgow,
Scotland. During the closing of this conference we aimed for the
perfect balance between high-level entertainment and unveiling the
next conference location, Barcelona, Spain.
An
international audience of 3,000 (C.E.O.'s and middle management)
were captivated during the Riverdance performance. It was
a dazzling show with many highlights. The 'bridge' to Spain was
formed by the spellbinding flamenco dancing of Marta Jimenez Luis,
which was incorporated in the 30-minute performance of the Flying
Squad.
The
Flying Squad performance was a huge success and it has been a great
pleasure to work with such professional people."
