is not feasible for the Flying Squad to attend every event
it is invited to. There are many factors to consider when deciding
on the suitability of an event. The Flying Squad divides
its time between publicity work for Riverdance and
corporate events, which makes for a busy schedule.

Costs vary considerably depending mainly on performance duration,
the number of artists required and the location of the event.

type of organisations request Flying Squad performances?
The Irish theme and the huge success of Riverdance - The Show
are factors that regularly attract companies or charities. We deal
with requests from PR and event management companies or directly
with the main client. These may be multinationals with operations
in Ireland or Irish companies with subsidiaries abroad. Sometimes
a client makes a specific request for Riverdance,
to tie in with a theme for their event or simply because they wish
for a performance that is as exciting as it is entertaining.

the first step in the process of planning a Flying Squad performance?
The first thing to be established is the dimensions of the proposed
performance space and the extent of the on-site facilities. The
Dublin-based line producer will maintain close contact with the
client's event co-ordinator throughout the planning of the event.
It is recommended, where possible, to have an on-site meeting at
the earliest opportunity.

The Flying Squad performances comprise of excerpts from Riverdance
- The Show. The shortest performance is one number from
the show and the maximum running time is 75 minutes, with up to
15 numbers and 54 performers.

How
much rehearsal time is required?
Every performance requires a full technical rehearsal on stage.
The number of hours required is dictated by duration of the programme.

What
size and type of stage is required?
The smallest stage the Flying Squad can perform on is 14
feet by 10 feet. It is recommended that the stage be built at a
suitable height to allow the audience a good view of the dancers'
steps. It is essential to have the right stage construction and
dance floor. The production team will liase with the client on these
issues during initial discussions.

Will
there be musicians?
Not always, most numbers require live musicicans and the troupe
can travel with a band of up to seven musicians. The instruments
are as follows: Uilleann Pipes, Spanish guitar, Bodhran, Fiddle,
Saxophone, Box Accordion and Percussion.

dressing rooms required?
Yes, dressing rooms should be as close to the performance space
as possible. Every performance includes quick costume changes and
therefore backstage access is vital. A temporary designated dressing
area can suffice.
