The 2002 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards was held in the lavish surroundings of the famous Hotel de Paris, in the centre of Monte Carlo. Six weeks prior to the event the Flying Squad Line Producer met the American hosts onsite in the ornate room, 'Salle Empire', to discuss the various options for the staging. The Salle Empire is a lavishly designed room with gold leaf details and intricate murals on all sides. We did not attempt to disguise the fact we were performing in such a dazzlingly beautiful room but embraced it wholeheartedly. The stage area, although small, was built to our specifications with a dance floor covering. There were severe limitations backstage. The kitchens were directly behind the stage and careful choreography was put in place to avoid collisions between performer and waiter!
